Get ready for safe summer bike riding! The Bike Shoppe, the City of La Crescent, La Crescent Police Department, Houston County Public Health, and La Crescent-Hokah Community Education have organized this fun event for children to bring their bikes to as we kick off summer! Children will go through stations to get their bike and helmet checked over, traverse the safety demonstration course, learn proper biking etiquette, and enter to win prizes!
Rain date: Sunday, June 2, 2:00-4:00pm


At half time of the MS staff vs. student game we did a half court shooting contest. The winner was 8th grader Drew Crosby.











Mr. Lehrke’s 6th grade Language Arts class flipped over their reward of pancakes this morning. Thanks to the chefs Mr. Lehrke, Mr. Bartz and Mrs. Sichler.










Due to the forecasted likelihood of up to 75 MPH winds and tornado potential, La Crescent Hokah Schools will dismiss at 1:00 today (May 21st) to get our students home safely. Thank you for your understanding and patience.

Cathy Erickson was recently honored by HVTU (Hiawatha Valley Teachers United) and Ed MN La Crescent (our local teacher's union) for her outstanding leadership within the Union as a member rights advocate for 17 years, serving on several District committees and supporting her students and colleagues without hesitation. Congrats, Cathy!

The La Crescent-Hokah middle school students had a Lancer Way assembly this afternoon to acknowledge all the great things our students have been doing these past few months. Here are just a few picks of the activities we did today.











Beginning this summer, Minnesota will offer Summer EBT, the new grocery EBT program for families with eligible school-age kids. The Summer EBT program is an effective tool in the fight against child hunger. Households who qualify for Educational Benefits will receive $120 per child during the summer for groceries. If you have not applied for Educational Benefits this school year and would like to apply, please complete an application via the Infinite Campus parent portal and follow these steps: click "more" in the menu -> meal benefits -> meal benefits application -> follow the steps to complete the application. Hello Lancer Community!
Look for Mrs Greener at the Hokah Market on Main on Sat, May 4. She will have student ceramic artworks available for free will donations. All proceeds from the ceramics go back to the art classes to purchase equipment. There are a variety of sizes and colors. The pieces would make wonderful vases, candy dishes, plant pots, desk organizers, etc. Help support our talented art students!


Monday was Earth Day 🌎 Check out these fun activities and what our students learned!
Discovery Preschool 3K planted grass seeds, took care of them by watering and making sure they got sunlight, and finally, they were able to give their funny grass heads a haircut!
Environmental Science class measured the amount of carbon dioxide coming out of our car exhausts.
Mrs. Riess' class read the book One Plastic Bag. Then, students learned how to make bracelets from plastic bags.
Students in 4k made earth pancakes and earth suncatchers!
Mrs. Baer's class celebrated National Picnic Day and Earth Day by wearing green and blue and recycling "old tires" into a "landfill." (chocolate Cheerios)They also turned recycled tires into roads and blacktops for playgrounds!










I'm excited to announce this week's High School Bucket Filler of the Week! She was nominated for always bringing joy and positivity to the classroom, working hard, being a positive role model, and providing enriching perspectives to classroom discussions. This week's winner is Ombeline Cihuelo! Thank you for bringing the positive energy with you every day!


La Crescent-Hokah High School had 18 entries in the MSHSL Visual Arts Competition held on Sat, April 20, at Century High School in Rochester. Our talented artists earned 7 Superior ratings, 11 Excellent ratings, and one Best of Show. Diana VanAtta earned the BoS for her ceramic vessel entitled "At the Bottom of the Sea." Congratulations to Diana and all the talented students who chose to represent La Crescent-Hokah!

He was nominated for working hard in class as well as bringing a positive attitude and overall positive energy with him every single day. This week's Bucket Filler is Kale Evenson! Calling all Future Lancer student athletes! Join us for the Lancer football Passing League! Our high school football coaching staff and players will help participants refine their passing skills.
