Our La Crescent-Hokah district is exceptionally fortunate to have Mrs. Leslie Poellinger at La Crescent-Hokah Middle School. Her positivity, commitment, and kindness shine through in everything she does. As our PBIS leader, Leslie is the heart, soul, and energy behind the Lancer Way and the positive culture that defines our middle school. Recently, she showcased the La Crescent-Hokah Middle School PBIS program at the PBIS Summer Institute! She made us very proud. Beyond her PBIS leadership, she is an outstanding educator and a dedicated mentor to our staff and students alike! Simply put, Mrs. Poellinger is an inspiration to us all, and we are blessed beyond measure to have her on our team!
We are happy to announce our High School Bucket Filler of the Week! This week's winner was recognized for always being positive and being a role model for others. She is happy to help other students out, is always polite, and she stood out to our staff when cleaning up after a class project by ensuring that the space was better than when she arrived. Mr. Ekern brings a positive attitude to school each day and is always willing to lend a helping hand whenever he sees a need. Whether he’s supporting our PBIS team, serving on our Building Leadership Team, or making PE a fun and engaging experience for all, Mr. Ekern makes a difference in our school community. Our students absolutely love phy. ed. with him! We are so grateful for the energy, teamwork, and positivity he brings to La Crescent-Hokah Elementary!
Lauren does SO much for our district! Not only does she need to oversee the health of every student in the district, but she has to work with the full range of students from a 3 year old to an 18 year old. She manages to connect with all of them and help them when they are feeling their worst. Somehow, she manages to do all of it with a smile and a positive attitude. On top of that, she works diligently with the District 300 Foundation President to help ensure that teachers and students have the opportunity to experience new things. Mrs. Greener is a fixture in the La Crescent-Hokah School District. Her dedication to ensure that all students feel like they have a place within our schools is an example for everyone. That dedication extends to staff as well. She is frequently a mentor for new staff, routinely plans social gatherings to build community, and lets her "mom side" come out when it is needed to take care of others. She is one of the driving forces behind making our school community into a Lancer Family. She works tirelessly to not only encourage a love of art but to help everyone be good human beings. It is my pleasure to recognize Tiffany Heyer, our district-wide Special Education Assistant, as Staff of the Week! Tiffany juggles an incredible number of responsibilities, yet every single day she arrives with kindness, thoughtfulness, and an unwavering commitment to making life better for those around her. At the start of this school year, she stepped right in to work directly as a paraprofessional until our team was fully staffed—demonstrating once again that her patience, positivity, and grace under pressure are truly top-notch.
Her impact resonates across our entire school community. Parents frequently comment on her warmth and kindness whenever she calls to schedule meetings, and our staff members consistently share what an absolute godsend she is, always ready to lend a helping hand and elevate those around her. Tiffany makes us a better, stronger district just by being in it. We are so grateful for everything she does, and she is more than deserving of this award-an inspiration for others. Ryan Whitford brings a high level of energy and positivity everywhere he goes! He did amazing work at the Elementary's Step Into Learning days where he engaged with nearly all students and their families, by either greeting them and/or walking the kiddos through a bus safety lesson! We appreciate everything that Ryan does for the District, whether he is assisting students with special needs, driving a bus, or announcing Friday night home football games! Thank you Ryan!
At the first home football game this Friday September 4th, the High School Band is doing an "America 250" halftime show with Fireworks! It should be a wonderful event and you're all invited - spread the word! The game starts at 7pm.
