Welcome, new staff
Liana and Eli

Welcome, Liana Malimanek!

Liana Malimanek, or Mrs. Malimanek, is joining La Crescent-Hokah Elementary as a 1st grade teacher. She grew up in Albert Lea, MN, and went to undergrad school at Winona State University. While at WSU, she was on the Women’s Rugby Team, and they won the DII Collegiate Rugby National Championship in 2019. Last year she taught 3rd grade in Rochester, MN, while obtaining her Master’s degree in education through WSU-Rochester’s Graduate Induction Program. This will be her second year teaching.

Liana got married in July to her husband, Eli. They just moved to La Crescent after Eli began working full-time for the Army National Guard in Winona. Liana and Eli love going hiking, hunting, fishing, and playing sports. They recently got a yellow lab puppy named Hazel. Liana hopes to move to an acreage and have a small farm in a few years. One of Liana’s favorite bible verses is Philippians 4:13, “I can do all things through him who strengthens me”. This verse and her faith have helped Liana through various difficulties in life, including her husband’s 11-month deployment in 2020.

Liana is excited to be teaching 1st graders this year. She loves building relationships with students and watching them grow throughout the school year. Liana is excited to be part of this community!
