Welcome, new staff
Olivia VanDenBerge

Welcome, Olivia VanDenBerge!

Olivia VanDenBerge, Miss Van, is joining the Lancer family as the Middle/High School Art Teacher and paraprofessional. She graduated with her BS in Art Education from Winona State University in December of 2019 and did part of her student-teaching at La Crescent-Hokah Middle/High School! Miss Van initially chose to major in Graphic Design, and she decided to switch to Art Education when she discovered her passion for working with students. From digital design to simply drawing with pens, she has had much experience with many different mediums of art. When Miss Van is not in the art room with students, she loves to be outdoors, take photographs, and of course, create art with her best friend by her side, who happens to be a kitty named Horton. This past year, she lived in Cincinnati, OH, and taught art to young students at an incredible studio called The Art Spark. She has been deeply inspired by the dear friends and students she met while working there who instilled a love for the process of creating art in her. One of her favorite quotes by Vincent Van Gogh is, “The more I think about it, the more I realize there is nothing more artistic than to love others.” Enjoying the process of creating art and loving others motivates her most as an art teacher. She cannot wait to be back at La Crescent-Hokah Middle/High School, seeing not only new faces but familiar ones as well!
