Emily Cassellius is excited to join La Crescent-Hokah Elementary School as its new principal! She brings more than 20 years of experience in education, having served as both an elementary classroom teacher and elementary principal. During her time as a principal, she also served as an MTSS (Multi-Tiered System of Supports) coordinator, developing systems of intervention and enrichment designed to meet the needs of all learners and ensure all students had opportunities to grow and succeed. She comes with experience in PBIS (Positive Behavior Interventions and Support), curriculum alignment, cultivating positive cultures, and literacy instruction. 

Education is a family affair for Emily. Her husband, John, is the high school principal in Houston, and their children, Bryan and Molly, are both pursuing careers in education, majoring in elementary education and special education. When they aren’t at school you can find Emily and her family watching football, traveling, playing with their two dogs, and getting ready to officially welcome Bryan’s fiancée, Anna, into their family with a wedding coming in December! 

Emily is passionate about fostering a love of literacy and creating a culture rooted in kindness. She believes strong literacy skills open doors to lifelong opportunities, while kindness builds trust, belonging, and meaningful connections that help every child and staff member thrive.

What Emily enjoys most about her work is supporting students, families, and staff so they feel valued, heard, and connected within the school community. She is looking forward to building strong relationships in the La Crescent-Hokah community and partnering with families and staff to do the important work of ensuring every student continues to learn, grow, and reach their full potential.
