Our benchmark testing for the fall is now complete at both the MS and the HS. This data will be used to support site goals and plan interventions for students throughout the course of the year. Leadership teams at both levels have put much thought into which assessments at which grade levels will give us what we need in order to reduce the amount of testing our students currently participate in.
The MS did meet their site goal for this last year. Our reading scores on the NWEA MAP tests improved to over 61% of our students meeting or exceeding growth targets on a fall to fall measure. The MS student council hosted their first social event of the year with a dance on the Friday before Halloween. Thanks to all staff and parents that helped set up, clean up and supervise.
Fall conferences were held on the 1st, 3rd, and 10th of November. Parents took advantage of all 3 nights to meet with teachers and discuss progress related to their student. We will host one night of Spring conferences in March on Tuesday the 14th.
We are in between seasons right now for the high school. Coaches have held pre season meetings and Fall Sports held banquets to wrap up the fall seasons.
Staff have set their individual growth plans for the coming year and are working with peers in the review process. We are continuing to better align our curriculum work and our PLC work to impact student achievement. We also have a group of staff working on a common bell schedule for the MS/HS and we are considering what flexibility that may provide in offering courses that are 2 periods and those that are one.
