Welcome to first grade!  This will be an incredible year for your child.  Not only will your child build the foundation for future learning, but he or she will learn to read and will learn to read well! This is an awe-inspiring feat. Your child will also learn to write stories, add, subtract, and so much more. I hope to instill a love of learning that will last throughout your child’s years of schooling.

I would like to share some information about myself professionally and personally.  This is will be my 14th year teaching.  I have my undergraduate degree in Elementary/Middle Education and a master’s degree in Reading.  Needless to say, I am very excited to help your child develop the essential skills and enthusiasm he or she needs to read well.  On a personal note, my family resides in La Crescent.  I have three rambunctious children. We enjoy being outdoors, cooking food from our garden, doing art projects, and reading all sorts of books.

I am very excited to share my enthusiasm for life and learning with your child.  I am a very active individual and have a love for yoga, running, and all things nature.  We will also be practicing yoga in our classroom throughout the year.  To be successful, creative learners children must have opportunities to fully experience the present moment, a place where they can pause, truly hear and feel, reflect, and learn.  I know that your child will thrive from this experience!
