Sr. Seuss quote.

Dear Parents:

I’m looking forward to helping your child with Reading this year! If you have any concerns or questions about ADSIS, please feel free to call me at 507-895-4484, extension #2301 or email me anytime! If you are looking for resources on helping your child with homework, or getting your child to read more, please contact me, as I have some books in the ADSIS Reading room that may be of interest. Also, our public library in LaCrescent has a vast number of resources for parents and children - and best of all, it is free!  Hopefully you can take advantage of these great resources. You can contact the La Crescent Public Library at 895-4047 for more information.

Please let me know if I can be of any more help in making reading a wonderful experience for your child!

Ms. Merry Kocar

What is ADSIS?

ADSIS defined is an “Alternative Delivery of Specialized Instructional Services."   Through the La Crescent-Hokah Elementary School's ADSIS-funded services, students receive additional support through Response to Interventions programming.

What does it mean if my child has been selected for ADSIS/RtI Reading Support?

If your child has been selected for ADSIS/RtI Reading Support, your child will be provided with more intensive reading instruction in the areas of decoding, fluency, reading comprehension, and/or vocabulary. The ADSIS/RtI Reading group sizes are typically between 4 to 5 students, significantly smaller than the typical language arts class. Your child will receive small group and/or individualized instruction, and the teacher will help your child to set goals and closely monitor his/her progress. It is our belief that the additional academic engaged time in reading will not only improve your child’s literacy skills, but his/her confidence as a reader while positively impacting his/her classrrom grades.
