Hi I'm Mrs Shea, and I will be teaching Freshmen English and Senior English this year at La Crescent Senior High School. I'm looking forward to getting to know know both students and parents this year, and helping my students have a successful year of learning.

I am originally from Rochester, Minnesota, where I attended John Marshall High School. After high school, I attended Winona State University, where I received my BA in English-Writing and met my husband. After receiving my BA, I went to Iowa State University for an MA in English and to University of Illinois, Urbana-Champaign for an MFA in Creative Writing.

While in graduate school, I discovered my love of education while teaching undergraduate writing courses, and later decided to get my teaching certification in secondary education. While working on my degree, I also worked at a residential high school in Illinois as a special education paraprofessional. In 2012, I completed my certification and student taught at Central High School. After ten years of living and teaching in Champaign, IL, my husband and I moved back home to Minnesota. Since I moved home, I’ve taught at several colleges in the area—most recently Winona State University. In 2017, I started teaching at La Crescent High School. In my spare time, I love to hike, write, read, go to concerts, and spend time with family.
