Welcome Back to School!

August 22, 2017
Dear La Crescent-Hokah Elementary Families,
It is my pleasure to write this as your new Elementary Principal! My hope is that this letter meets you and your entire family with the same positive anticipation for a great year of learning and growing together. This coming year is my fourteenth in our district, and I am proud to live and work in our community alongside you.
Some of my most treasured memories in this district are with students and learning opportunities both inside and outside of the classroom. These experiences are what convince me each day that all students can learn and grow to reach their individual potential. It is exciting to join our outstanding elementary team in working with our youngest Lancer learners in some of their most important years.
New to the Elementary this year is the position of Behavior Interventionist - Dena Banse. We are excited about the support, skill building, and positive influence she’ll bring to student relationships. This coming school year will be our second year as a “PBIS” (Positive Behavior Interventions and Supports) School as well. Our Lancer Shield values are “Responsible, Respectful and Safe”, and our staff is committed to modeling and teaching these vital citizenship skills.
Another great new resource for parents and families is the “Parents Raising Resilient Children” series, facilitated by Nicole Garbers, our school social worker. The program will run Sundays at 4pm beginning October 4th in our Media Center. The program is free - by calling 895-5150 to register.
Enjoy the last weeks of summer, and please don’t hesitate to contact me, or simply stop by the Elementary School to say ‘Hello’!
Yours in Education,
Jeffrey P. Copp
